New in our product range: Silicon Carbide (SiC)
New: Silicon Carbide (SiC)
The product range of SQ Deutschland GmbH has been extended by Silicon Carbide (SiC).
Silicon Carbide is used in foundries as a donor of necessary alloying elements such as silicon and carbon to achieve their desired contents in the iron melt.
By the addition of silicon carbide during the early stages oft he melting, a nucleation process oft he iron will be initiated and Sic acts a preconditioning agent. This results in high quality cast iron with excellent mechanical properties.

Coatings for sand moulds and sand cores
Coatings for sand moulds and sand cores
The product range of SQ Deutschland GmbH does now also contain Coatings which are produced in our Spanish SQI plant.
Our Solvent- and water based Coatings are suitable for numerous systems based on organic and inorganic binders. SQ Coatings help reducing casting defects and improve the surface quality of the castings significantly.
Extension of product range of ceramic foam filter
Extension of product range of ceramic foam filter
The product range of SQ Deutschland GmbH has been extended by FCF-4 Ceramic Foam Filter Plates.
FCF-4 filter plates are mainly applied in the continuous purification of molten aluminium to acieve better deep filtration effects.
NEW: Flow-optimised models available
Silicon carbide filters are used when casting iron alloys and copper alloys. SQ silicon carbide ceramic foam filters are suitable for use in casting ferrous materials, but can also be used for other casting processes – except for casting steel.
Advantages of our SQ filters:
- Improve the mechanical and dynamic properties of casting materials
- Higher process reliability ◊ Laminar mould filling for a smooth flow
- Reduce unwanted oxidation processes and formation of gas bubbles ◊ Clean casting surfaces reduce post-treatment work
- Simplified casting systems reduce material volumes in the circular flow
- Reduce scrap
Flow-optimised variants are now available for various sizes of filter. Please contact us directly for further information or if you have any questions.
ZG gating systems
ZG GATING SYSTEMS BASED ON CELLULOSE COMPOSITES
The demands made on foundries have steadily increased over the years, especially in the field of hand mould casting for medium to larger castings with complex geometries. The cost structures of this process are in dire need of an overhaul. Gating systems are integral parts of the moulds and are designed with the help of simulation software. Compared to conventional ceramic systems, the new ZG product range offers a number of significant advantages for foundries:
- Easy assembly of the gating systems with simple push-fit connections
- No need to glue the individual elements together
- Size of individual components can be quickly adjusted, hardly any dust exposure, wet cutting not necessary for shortening elements, no cooling water required
- Reduced risk of breakage
- Minimal contamination of the moulding sand after demoulding, no need to sieve out ceramic particles before reusing the moulding sand
- Lighter gating system makes it easier to support longer connections
ZG gating systems are made from a composite material based on cellulose and are mainly used in lost foam casting and traditional sand mould casting applications.
The product range includes straight pipe sections as well as 90° elbows and T pieces. The maximum service temperature is 1400°C with a pouring time of 60 seconds and a maximum casting weight of 5000 kg.
