PHENOLIC RESINS FOR THE ABRASIVE INDUSTRY
NOVOLAK AND RESOL FOR THE PRODUCTION OF GRINDING- AND CUTTING WHEELS
Novolak Resins provide strong adhesion and improved mechanical properties for Grinding and cutting wheels. They enable the production of a broad variety and hardness degrees. Modified Phenolic Resins enable improved flexibility, higher rotating speed, improved heat resistance
and enhanced wet grinding properties.
Liquid Resol Resins are part of the recipes of Grinding and Cutting wheels and provide the mandatory wetting of the recipe components
and their homogenuous distribution during mixing process.
Typical powder resins for abrasive products show a high moleculary weight and an increased softening point. Often those grades contain 4-15% of Hexamethylentetramine. Depending on dosage, various crosslinking densities, hardness and heat resistance can be achieved.
Modified resins can provide increased tenacities, elasticity and restiveness.
